Admission Arrangements 2027/28

Consultation on Admissions Arrangements

A consultation on the admissions arrangements for the 2027/28 academic year for Royal Wootton Bassett Academy will run from Wednesday 15th October 2025 until 3pm on Friday 28th November 2025. During this time, parents and other key stakeholders are invited to express their views and any concerns about the proposed admission arrangements.

In accordance with the Department for Education’s Statutory School Admissions Code 2021, as a multi-academy trust, we are the admissions authority for all schools that form the trust and as such we must consult on our admission arrangements when changes are proposed.

2026/27 Admissions Arrangements

Please download the admissions arrangements for 2026/27 below. These outline how each school within Ascend Learning Trust manages its admissions process as part of our role as an admissions authority.

Appeals

Under the School Admissions Appeals Code 2021, parents have a statutory right of appeal against the decision not to offer a place at a school. Ascend Learning Trust follows this statutory guidance and appeals are heard by an independent panel which will be organised by the trust. The panel will decide whether to uphold or dismiss the appeal. Where a panel upholds the appeal the school is required to admit the child.

If you wish to lodge an appeal, please contact the trust by email on admissionsappeals@ascendlearningtrust.org.uk for further information.

Completed appeal forms along with all supporting evidence must be submitted electronically.

Parents wishing to appeal the decision not to offer a place following an in-year application should return the completed appeals paperwork within 20 days of receiving it.

Catchment Areas

As the admissions authority, Ascend Learning Trust (ALT) are responsible for determining the catchment area of each of its schools. The catchment map for each school within ALT is available below and as an appendix to the admissions arrangements for each school.

Please note that being within a defined catchment area, or applying from a named feeder primary, does not denote eligibility for an application for transport support. All school transport applications are managed by your home local authority (Wiltshire Council/Swindon Borough Council) and each address has a named school for the purposes of a transport application. More details are available from your home local authority.
